Moderne Giveaway

The temperatures are rising and so are the hemlines. There's no better way to beat the heat than in a sexy little sundress... and there's no better way to do it in style than in a sexy little sundress by MINKPINK. Inspired by "high-end designers, street style, and vintage", MINKPINK is packing all the fashion punch I need this season.

I am absolutely loving this multi Delightful Dress. I'd gladly gallivant on the beach somewhere, swoon on a romantic date night, or frolic through a wildflower covered field in this sexy little number this summer.

Summer just isn't summer without easy breezy maxi dresses. Versatile enough to wear with flip flops while running errands on a Saturday morning, to dressing up with wedges and jewelry for a night on the town, the maxi dress is a great go-to outfit for the warm days ahead. This Zulu Maxi Dress from MINK PINK is the perfect combo of casual and chic. The fun flowy fit is great for any body type, and let's face it... animal print is always amazing in moderation.

Now for the real treat... Moderne, one of my favorite online boutiques (that I have featured here before), was gracious enough to give one lucky Ash Hearts Fash reader a $50 gift card to their website! Whether you decide to scoop up one of these fabulous dresses by MINKPINK, or opt to mix it up with other duds by designers like Alternative Apparel, Fluxus, Wildfox Couture and more, Moderne has got you covered (in style).

Here's how you win:

1. Follow this blog and leave a comment with what item(s) you would buy with your $50 gift card on this post (don't forget to leave your contact information)

OR

2. Mentions or RT's on Twitter: @lovemoderne/@ashheartsfash

Giveaway runs through June 15th.

A Sheer Thing

Flipping through one of my favorite monthly arrivals this evening, the Urban Outfitters catalog, I was reminded that I'm a total sucker for sheer. There's just something so sexy and feminine about this translucent fabric. The trick to this trend is to not go too tight... delicate draping and layers will set you apart from the street walkers - and will help keep it street.

Any of these looks can be paired with a black bra, a belt and motorcycle boots to make it edgy and cool... or kept sweet and bohemian as pictured above. Either way, sheer screams summer and sexy... and my closet is craving this craze. ♥

Psst... Ash Hearts Fash followers can take advantage of 15% off everything at www.shopmoderne.com from now until 5/31/2011. Enter promo code ashheartsfash. This should hold you over until the exclusive giveaway that's coming your way!

Bigger is Better

Summer is upon us and I can't wait to rock some comfortable carefree duds. One of my favorite outfits to throw on for a Saturday afternoon in the sun is a soft, over-sized t-shirt. These roomy tees are so versatile - you can top them with a vest or cardigan, even a belt... worn over denim, leggings, shorts or skirts. Did I mention comfortable?!

One of my favorite online stores, Moderne, is your one-stop shop for over-sized tees. They have a huge selection from Wildfox Couture, Alternative Apparel, MINKPINK and more. It's like I died and went to comfy cute heaven.

Psst... stay tuned for a very exclusive giveaway from Moderne! This is one fashion fix that Ash Hearts Fash followers will not want to miss!

Luxe in Tux

Last spring I was obsessed with the Boyfriend Blazer, but this spring I'd like to take the look up a notch with a Tuxedo Jacket. The long lines and tapered design of the tuxedo jacket creates an incredibly lean figure and flattering style. It works extremely well layered with a long plain or graphic t-shirt, a sexy camisole, or even over a simple sundress. For a more formal 'evening' look, try a fitted version or throw it over cocktail dress. The tuxedo jacket embodies sophistication and adds class to any look, so I personally love this menswear-inspired piece with rugged jeans, leather leggings or shorts... keeping it street.

Crochet Crave

I love a challenging DIY project every now and then. Nothing beats that feeling of accomplishment... knowing that you made something pretty with your own two (manicured) hands. I learned to sew when I was younger but didn't pick it up again until a few years ago. I'm FAR from great, but it's still rewarding - not to mention a ton of fun to play around with my creative side. I recently picked up a few crocheted pieces to add to my wardrobe, one of my latest style obsessions, and briefly considered giving crocheting a whirl. Well, then I remembered my Mom trying to teach me to knit a few years ago... I wasn't the same patient student I once was and couldn't quite get the hang of it. Something tells me crocheting is a just a tad bit harder than knitting, so on second thought, I think I'll leave it to the professionals.

My FAVORITE Handmade Crochet Earrings from Buffalo Exchange. LOVE.
Vintage Crochet Drape Top
Crochet Cream Tights (because I'm not white enough as it is).

I totally wish I would have taken Grandma Rose up on her offer to teach me to crochet. My wallet might thank me.

Prepare to Flare

By now I think it's safe to say that skinny jeans have staying power on the fashion scene. That said, flare denim has far from vanished... in fact, this season is all about 70's funk. I've been seeing bell bottoms everywhere, and although I may not be trading in my J-Brand Skinny Legs for keeps, I'm totally trading them in for the J-Brand Bell Bottoms for now.

Flares paired with a bohemian blouse (preferably by Winter Kate), retro shades and chunky platforms is the epitome of 70's chic - a style I'm totally feeling for spring. I'd complete the look with minimal makeup... NARS 'Orgasm' Illuminator is a perfect alternative to heavy foundation for a quick and easy glow, and their 'Dolce Vita' lipstick is a great subtle shade that works on virtually everyone's skin tone. Throw in a splash of Angel Eau De Parfum, my go-to blend of vanilla, sandalwood and patchouli, and you've got yourself one smoking hot hippie!

Peace!

Threeway

Who doesn't like getting more bang for their buck? I'm obsessed with versatile pieces; flexible fashion I can easily mix and match, virtually multiplying my looks and updating my outfits. So, when I stumbled across the Smock Necklace by NYC based accessories designer Louise Manna, I couldn't stop envisioning the million different ways I could work this piece of art into my wardrobe.

Worn covering my shoulders with a plain white tank for a touch of punk rock... or draping down my back with a sexy backless LBD on date night... or as a basic necklace with a sweet summer sundress... the possibilities are endless! Did I mention I'm obsessed with versatile pieces? Okay... just checking.
