Fashionista Road Warrior

I am so excited that spring has officially poked it's little head out from the clouds, and summer is right around the corner. One of the many things I am totally looking forward to in the coming months are SUMMER ROAD TRIPS!! Over the past few summers, my boyfriend and I have packed the car to the gills with camping gear, several bags of my "necessities", tasty snacks, and we've hit the winding road with our pooch in tow. We have visited several amazing hot springs, beautiful camping destinations, Burning Man, fun artsy-fartsy towns, random motels, quirky landmarks, and a music festival or two. We already have a few trips on the calendar for Summer '10, and one of the first things that comes to mind when it comes to these vacays is... what will I pack to wear?? How will I be a fashionable road warrior this summer? Well, I have some ideas...

Since life on the road can be a little more casual, it's the perfect time to channel your inner hippie child. I mean, when you think "road trip", don't you picture a VW bus anyway? Flowy tunics, sundresses, or maxi skirts scream summer... and are totally comfortable for the car ride. They're easy to throw on (or off) and are still dead sexy without requiring much fuss.

I la la LOVE Nicole Richie's Winter Kate line of clothing, and it totally fits the (fashionista's) road trip bill.  How cute are these Camelia and Emma paisley dresses from her Spring/Summer 2010 Collection?!

I was obsessed with the Maxi Dress last summer, but this season I am totally crushing on Maxi Skirts! Paired with a camisole or tank, or even with your bikini top or a cozy sweater, the Maxi Skirt is a simple way to transform into a (comfortable) bohemian beauty. This lovely gypsy wonder from Top Shop is ultra versatile, and will have you hitting the road in style this summer.

Rock any of these sweet summer looks with a messenger bag, which will keep your passport, cash, and other beloved belongings safely tucked close to your side. Anthropologie has some great cross body styles (below) that definitely compliment the hippie chic look. The funky Carnaval bag is road trip righteous, and the more conservative Here-There-Everywhere Bag's name speaks for itself.

Lastly, don't forget your favorite gladiator sandals and oversized sunny's, and you'll be ready to hit the open road as a true Fashionista Road Warrior!

XOX,
