Rock the Runaways' Style

Long before Joan Jett's infectious "I love Rock and Roll" was heard pumping out of jukeboxes and boom boxes galore, Jett was part of a little band called The Runaways. Starting in just their teens, and touring with famous musicians like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Cheap Trick and The Ramones, The Runaways' iconic style helped put them on the map.

Embodying eccentric 70's fashion at it's finest, The Runaways really pushed the envelope. They turned sexy negligee into fashionable daywear, made psychedelic sky-high platforms and leather separates look subtle and safe, and exchanged flower power for bad ass rock-n-roll edge.

The Runaways- 1977

Lucky for all fashionistas living on the fashion forward edge, The Runaways is now a movie, which just made it's big premiere at Sundance. Actress Kristen Stewart, who has notable steal-worthy style, plays Joan Jett, and mini-fashionista in training, Dakota Fanning, co-stars in the film. I cannot wait to endure 105 minutes of fresh iconic style. I just know Kristen will hold it down and keep it street!

It's 1975 and they're about to explode...

With the Rock Redux trend already in full swing, it's not hard to rock this look with pieces you probably already have in your closet. Leggings, uber-high platforms, glitter tops, aviator shades, leather jackets, studded accessories, high waisted denim and blood red lips = the prescription for hard core.
